Things seem to be happening at a rapid pace lately. There's a lot going on this 3rd trimester. We've finally finished up the childbirth classes at the hospital. I think it's safe to say we're very well prepared for what to expect and what might not go our way as planned. We've seen the rooms, almost gotten the bags packed and ready for when that big day arrives! We went to the Wee Trade sale at the Ag Center last weekend and racked up on some good deals and larger items like the pack n' play, a swing, bouncer, diaper champ, toys and tummy-time play mat. We're excited we'll be that much closer to being ready with tomorrow's upcoming baby shower. I'm sure there will be lots of picture opportunities and you'll get those long awaited belly pics... finally! I know I keep teasing you with that, but there's no way out of it tomorrow!
Among other adventures, our Littermaid litter box broke a couple week's ago - my sole duty. What perfect timing for that to happen, right?? This was about the 4th one I've been through; some replaced for free and some not. I have finally reverted to a manual box - a Rolln' Clean by Omega, if you're out shopping for one. I've just had it together for a couple of days and it seems to work pretty well so far. It's quite different than I'm used to, but it was definitely cheaper and won't require so much time and care in cleaning now.
I think it was that same evening or the next that our laptop (which I still consider new) broke. I spent hours for the rest of the week trying to retrieve some data I forgot to copy over in safe mode. Thank goodness for our desktop computer with a monitor I could use since that wasn't even visible on the laptop! It finally went to a family friend and it's been determined it's a memory and graphics card driver issue. I'll have to reload all the data and operating system when I get it back. If the memory is integrated into the board, we'll have to send it off to get the mother board replaced since it's still under warranty. Once again... I have time for these things???
Work has continued to be a new challenge for me. I continue to learn new skills and software closely relating to sales and pr work. Not something I've been accustomed to. But, these newly learned skills will be a nice addition to the curriculum vitae (you didn't know I knew such big words, eh?).
So, the clock is ticking. Only 7 more weeks (or maybe less!) to go. We are very anxious and excited to meet this new arrival. And no, we still haven't picked a name yet!

Baby Shower
The shower has been set for February 23rd. You should find all the information on the invitation that you will need to get there. We are registered at Target and Babies-R-Us. Be sure to go online as there are some items that can only be purchased there - like the much awaited room decor! :)
We already have quite an abundance of items thanks to Josh, Stephanie and Regan, other family members and hand-me-downs, so if you think some things are missing on the list, we probably already have them. I can't wait for things to start coming together and putting all the supplies in place in the nursery! I've already began washing those tiny little outfits, trying to stay ahead of the game.
We're hoping to see lots of you at the shower. We miss getting to see you since leaving Merrimon. Yes, the guys and kids all need to come! There will be a place for the youngsters to hang out and play.

It keeps getting busier...
We're down to dr checkups every two weeks now. The last month....once a week! We've only got one more doctor in the practice to visit on our rotation before we're "back to norm". I think I've become way too familiar with the office and will gladly enjoy it when it's over!
Only 2 classes left of the Prepared Childbirth Class at the hospital. Last night we had a little fun with some labeled cards. They let us lay out how we thought we wanted the birth plan to go. Then we had to give up two, then four options if things didn't work the way we had planned. It let us see what was really important to us and made sure we were on the same page with our birth partners. Next week is the big tour! That is one of the big things I am looking forward to is seeing the rooms, how to get there, what the process is and all that. Bill knows I won't commit to memory how to get down all those halls and turns - that's what he and staff are for! That place can be a maze sometimes!
Work is still going well for me. I get to face my fears in the next couple of days and start talking to radio station producers over the phone to begin booking my boss. Did I sign up for this PR stuff??? I know it will help me in other areas of my life though, so I'm willing to dig in and give it a try.
Some of you already know we've been church shopping after leaving our church of 5 years. We're still looking (just sense late December). We've been to 4 churches now and are starting to whittle them down. There may be one or two more we wish to add to the list, but we don't want to travel too far of a distance to get there each week. This shopping experience has been quite different than the average church move since we have several criteria we are looking for and it's not simply a geographical move. Please keep us in your prayers that we find the place God wants us to be and that will be a good fit for our child or children in the future.
Speaking of children....just wanting to say congratulations to those friends of ours that have #2 on the way! You know who you are! It's quite interesting to see all of us going through this new phase in our lives and bringing little miracles into the world.
I'm at 31 weeks now. I know you all are really waiting for belly pic updates. Be sure to check back tonight or tomorrow as I'm going to try to get Bill pinned down for a minute to take a couple.

29 Weeks
Today's checkup was fairly routine. I did get another ultrasound so they could chart his growth. He's already up to 3 lbs! I guess that explains the increased backaches and difficulties sleeping! His heartbeat was a healthy 141 bpm and he's in the 63rd percentile on size (they like them to be between 10 and 90 percentile.
We got to meet another dr. on our rotation through the practice. This one seemed nice and intelligent - Dr. Wright for those of you familiar with the practice. He didn't have any problems explaining or detailing things.
Time to turn in for some much needed R&R!

28 weeks down, more backaches to go!
Job --
Since landing a go-to-work-everyday job, life has gotten a little more hectic again. All is going well with the job so far. I've been there a week and a half now. I'm starting to get a bit more acquainted with what I'm doing, his system for doing things and the direction he wants me to go in - which for now, will most likely concentrate on learning all the ins and outs of booking someone for speaking, whether it be in person, on the radio or otherwise. It's definitely a new challenge for me as this is all new territory. Getting there these past few snowy days has been interesting. As I was waiting for him to come down in his 4-wheel drive to pick me up at the bottom of the driveway, a fox went trotting by. I hear there are coyotes up there too. The dogs do a good job at keeping them at bay. Luckily, I'm not obligated to get there by a certain time or at all if the weather is bad. But...if no go, no moola.
Dr's Visit --
My initial glucose testing came on the first day of my new job. I had the odds stacked against me. I ended up staying an hour later than expected (until 2), hadn't eaten lunch yet and had 1/2 hour to grab something and get to my appt. I made the unfortunate choice of getting a McDs burger, fries and a tea. I wasn't told to avoid any foods/drinks before the test. Well, the tea did me in. My test came back elevated. So, instead of convincing them to let me retake the test, they sent me to a lab to do the extended 3-4 hour test. This one involved a pre-carb diet and fasting 12 hours prior. After a stick to the arms every hour to draw blood, I finally got the true results the next day - which were normal! Thank goodness! I did not want to have to deal with the idea of having gestational diabetes! Another small scare/concern, only to turn out to be A-OK. I am getting a little tired of all of these "tests".

Wednesday evening was the start of another new experience - Prepared Childbirth Classes!! :) These are located at the hospital. We have a class of about 10 couples. Getting to the actual classroom is almost a workout in itself! We have a good instructor and already have homework - coming up with a birth plan. We have a couple of squeamish husbands who still find humor every time the word "vagina" is mentioned. I imagine they'll soon become desensitized to it fairly quickly.

I've been gathering a game plan on a baby shower, so stay posted as details should soon be emerging!
Little Q has been quite active this month and not quite sure, but I think he's had a few bouts with the hiccups. Those tend to come at about 3am.
I should get some finished pics up of the painted nursery sometime this weekend. We still have a ways to go on getting all of the furniture ready to put back in.

6 month update
Everything seems to still be going well minus the discomforts of pregnancy - the norm, I suppose. I'm getting used to not sleeping so much each night (thanks Bill), but I suppose it's better to get used to that now rather than when the little munchkin arrives. The all-too-exciting glucose test comes at this week's dr's appt. Can't wait for that! Drinking some really sweet stuff and waiting an hour to be tested for all the things they normally test for. They're always testing something.
This week's weather, as most of you know, has been quite the turn around with lows near 10 and highs today nearing 70. It came a nice 2-3 inch snow that took almost 4 days to melt off. I'm still waiting on the big one. Can't wait until I have a little buddy to go sledding with! I can't remember doing much snow sledding in my days, but I'm hoping to crank up a new tradition if we can get some decent inches around here. For now, Bill always gets called into work when it snows, so I'm stuck here by myself. What's a good snow with no one to share it with?
The nursery keeps progressing. Bill has been painting and painting and.... did I mention he's been painting? :) It's looking good though. The crib/bedding decor has been ordered and should arrive maybe next week. I can't wait to begin putting everything back in and getting it looking like a true nursery. I washed up all the baby blankets Saturday. Some were Bill's/mine, derived from grandmas, aunts/cousins and such. They are all ready for use, which includes 12 receiving blankets. Do you think that is enough??? Doug is hard at work on building a surprise piece for the room which we will be sure to share when it is all complete. I think I'll just move into the nursery as it will look better than our room!
I think I've begun the nesting phase as I've been cleaning everything. Trying to get all the odd stuff done now that I know I will never have time for again. Next week begins a new adventure as we start childbirth classes. I'm actually looking forward to them and hope I learn a lot b/c I'm pretty sure I/we still have a lot to learn!
I'd better turn in and get some zzzzz's for 2nite!
